Sheila Crowsley - Missed Opportunities

“Ask yourself …

How many times have you gone swimming, snorkelling or even better….. Scuba diving and saw something amazing and thought, OMG!

If only I had a camera!

If I had a penny given to me for every time I heard a buddy, client or water enthusiast say exactly that, well I would probably be pretty well off by now.

I have been an avid scuba diver for a number of years now.

I teach at Bouley bay dive centre too. The number of times I found myself, surrounded by Jewel Anemones, Sea Squirts, Fan Corals….. Or, a lone Pipefish, Ray, Cat Shark, and many other creatures is countless.

I would marvel over their beauty and serenity and take away with me amazing memories, But I wanted something else from the dive… something was missing for me.

So, what did I do? I hear you say.

Well! I researched an affordable camera….. Olympus TG5, bought a housing, along with some extras to accommodate lights, and bingo I was all set!

The only problem was, I didn’t know how to use it,

so I hooked up on a course with Bouley bay dive centre,

and the rest is history.

I have never had so much fun trying to get that perfect photo, (now I know how the professionals feel 🤣), but hey! I’m having fun. I spend more time looking around at what is in front of me, instead of what’s about 10 feet away and find myself in some of the most laughable positions, just so I can capture that perfect photo.

I will never be a professional photographer, however, I can guarantee;  that I have had, and will have so much fun and won’t have to rely on memories alone. I even take the divers on Photography lead dives.. We all know photographers like to take their time.

Can’t wait to share one of these dives with you.
